DIY DESIGNER INSPIRED EMBELLISHED HEADBAND // D&G + CHANEL

i was leafing through my copy of CHANEL by the metropolitan museum of art recently and came across this amazing gold lame pantsuit embroidered with colorful rhinestones designed by karl lagerfeld. it made me think of those out-of-this-world headbands that dolce & gabbana created for the runway i reckon about 3 years ago, so i thought i'd turn this into a diy inspiration to embellish my crown :)

 Headband - Dolce & Gabbana:
you dont need a great deal of supplies, and the great thing is you can use embellishments from old jewelry or clothes you no longer want to keep.
so here's what you need:

1. a headband of any size and color
2. metallic embroidered trimming
3. rhinestones (you can even use buttons if you prefer)
4. scissors
5. glue

start off by folding the edge of the trim and gluing it to avoid fraying. next, glue the trim along the length of the headband with the scalloped edges facing outwards. now you're ready for the fun part - start embellishing as much or as little as you want! i have opted to use salvaged vintage rhinestones in a rather whimsical palette of reds, emeralds, golds and turquoise for this piece.

start off with a basic pattern and then just let it go wild and grow from there :)

i hope you'll give this a go and give your next bad hair day a little pick-me-up :)

xoxo
