i just started taking sewing lessons this week. after years and years of altering my own clothes to fit my tiny frame i decided to learn the underlying principles to satisfy my curiosity. so, my darling of a man paid for me to take lessons as an ultra early valentine's gift ;)
first order of business is to take notes in a little science journal. i bought one from the stationery shop, and absolutely hated the sad sad cover. so to cheer myself up, i gave it a little glamour makeover.
the original cover...i say there is no excuse for any form of paper goods to look this sad
here's a peek at what we're expected to do...note taking is not formulated nor taught step-by-step. we are to come up with our own based on our on the spot understanding and personal recollection...grrr
so first up...wrap the book with white wrapping paper, then paste a thick sheet of card on the front and the back covers. here ive use ivory colored 240gsm conqueror card to give it shape, strength and durability
wrap the entire book with lace, using strong glue as a fixative, not tape. cut the corners at an angle so that they meet nicely and doesnt look too clumsy
i wanted my notebook to look more structured and finished, so i decided to line the internal edges with black gross grain ribbon
this gives it a wonderful elegant, couture feel...
and to finish it off, i created a frame using the same black ribbon pasted onto a pre-cut white rectangular card. voila!
oxo,
lisa
