we were in bangkok during christmas, and had a jolly good time!

we took a rather bumpy ride along the river

we were told by out driver to pay a visit to a jetty at the end of this lane
to feed the birds and the fishes for good luck...
the people who live there were cleaning up from the terrible flood,
so my man carried me across the puddle, much to their amusement...and mine ;)

would you believe that this is a public toilet?

oh boy have i been slacking badly! ive been busy with interior design work, traveling and mainly just getting myself into the right frame of mind but its no excuse, i know...my bad.

my bangkok xmas was absolutely lovely, a huge difference from the previous years' freezing winter in the south of france...

we set our little tree up at home before we left...

i went for a cream and green garden theme...

i l-o-v-e giving and receiving gifts, even if only for the sheer joy of wrapping and unwrapping. i like watching facial expressions change as it happens, as if in slow motion. i tend to personalize my gifts as much as possible, sometimes even designing a custom pattern and printing out my own wrapping paper. simple wrapping works best i think, topped with fabulous personalized embellishments like these little beauties by fabulous people around the world...

i hope you are as inspired as i am...merry wrapping everyone!

my man and i had a fabulous time in phuket. taking time out together is the best thing any couple can do. retail therapy followed by endless self pampering, good food and good exercise makes for a perfect concoction. i found a gem of a lingerie shop called anne bra, where i had a glorious time chatting to the girls while trying on wonderful little works of art. have a look at their site and be sure to pop by the next time you're in patong.

b-lay tong, phuket

my man and i just got back from a fabulously relaxing time in phuket, thailand. we decided that since we've both seen most of europe, australia and a host of other countries, we would instead schedule a series of mini asian honeymoons sprinkled throughout our entire first year of marriage. it works well for us as we both have our work commitments and on top of that, we rescue and house a fair number of stray cats that need regular TLC.

we initially booked ourselves into an amazing boutique hotel in ayuthaya, thailand but had to cancel our plans due to mother nature's fury. in our search for a spot to go to in phuket, we were extremely furtunate to come across accor hotel Mgallery's brand new addition to their family, the b-lay tong resort in patong. the service was delightful and food was succulent even for my man who is a vegetarian.

easing my curiosity regarding the hotel's name, general manager wesley hayden explains that 'b' is the local owner's nickname, 'lay' means beach and 'tong' is short for patong...hence b-lay tong. we were drawn to the simple design of the building when we saw it online, much like scandanavian architecture but were pleasantly surprised by the fabulously whimsical decor handmade by various local artists. as wesley explains, the owner is passionate about keeping up with the local art scene and is a respected advocate of thai arts and crafts which is apparent in a most obvious way. he will soon open up a rather large space on the 1st floor by the spa for local artists to work and showcase their talents.

besides the b-spa, the hotel is also includes the b-restaurant, pool cafe, club, a quaint library and free internet access throughout the premise.

-M- the handmade wedding

i met a fabulous man at an art gallery exhibition opening night back in 2008. we met like in the movies...a crowd parted as i walked through the door and he saw me and my big hair and glasses. a mutual acquaintance introduced us, then we parted ways. the next thing i knew, he appeared by my left shoulder while i was admiring a giant black abstract oil painting and the entire room seemed to vanish from my radar. and as they say...the rest is history. four years on, he is now my fabulous husband...

being a designer, i decided early on that i wanted a handmade wedding, and with the help of my man who is an incredible artist, we designed our invitations, thank you cards, placemats, hantaran and everything else in between. we designed our wedding rings together naturally, and had them custom made. we decided on a rectangular emerald surrounded with diamonds set on an eternity diamond band for me and a simple double-lined band for him.

the 'hantaran' trays for him was designed following mum's request for a strictly silver palette. i LOVE the outcome.

i shall keep posting the details from time to time...
