DIY // CRYSTAL KNOB BOX HACK

i was extremely inspired (not to mention flabbergasted) when i saw this jewelry pyrite gem box at anthropologie in london with its enormous price tag of GBP1000!

i knew i had to make something inspired by this wonderbeauty, but as usual i wanted to do it by using salvaged and upcycled materials anyone can get their hands on...so here it is :) i started off by emptying these wonderful wooden tea boxes i picked up on our sri lanka getaway...

first thing you will need to do is to lay your boxes down on a scrap paper (or the likes) in an open or well ventilated space. once ready, you need to spray each box with spray paint in your desired color(s) over several coats

i have chosen to paint 4 tea boxes, 2 in white and the other 2 in silver. you may paint these boxes using acrylic paint instead if spray painting is not preferable...

while the boxes are drying, grab a few pieces of stones in various shapes and sized and lightly coat them in any color you desire and let them all dry thoroughly...

now here comes the fun part - using your preferred adhesive, start mixing and matching the stones and the boxes to achieve your desired look! i have opted to use the ever trusty E6000 clear drying glue for this project...

and voila...all done! mine's no genuine gemstone, i know but they're precious to me all the same.
i hope you like them :)
